SUD took two years to complete the album. Marc Reyes, the band’s bassist said that it’s because of the lineup changes and schedules. But despite the long process, the band is now stronger than ever with a solid lineup of musicians and also being set to present the listeners with something fresh with their debut release: poetry.
[Indie] Manila talked to Words Anonymous via Facebook Messenger and asked the story behind their collaboration with SUD:
Yung collab with SUD, is this a first for you guys? Na maging part ng isang album.
Words Anonymous: Yes, kaya sobrang excited kami, bukod pa sa rason na isa sa mga paborito at rinerespeto naming banda ang SUD.
How did the collab came about? How did the group prepare for it?
Words Anonymous: Si Jimbo Cuenco (SUD’s drummer) ang salarin. Tumawag lang siya isang araw kay M Manese ng “Uy! Collab tayo” and after that nag-collective panic na kami.
September 1, 2015, nag-meeting kami with SUD. We discussed each song. Kinuwento nila yung backstories and explained yung meaning ng lyrics. They told us na mas gusto nila na huwag kaming magpakahon dito, na kung may naiisip kaming ibang interpretation sa mga songs nila, the better. Yung mga piyesa namin were inspired by their songs. Yung nagustuhan namin sa collab na ‘to, naramdaman namin yung respeto ng SUD sa craft namin. Pinagkatiwala nila sa amin ang mga kanta nila, and pinahahalagahan namin iyon.
Sa pagpili ng songs na gagawan ng piyesa, each WA member was given a chance to choose a song they feel strongly about. Yung iba naman, pumili ng mga piyesa na sobrang taliwas sa ugali nila, to serve as a challenge for them. The whole collaboration helped us grow as artists.
What can the listeners expect from this collab?
Words Anonymous: They can expect a lot of sensual music and sensual poetry from really awkward people.
What can we expect at the album launch?
Words Anonymous: Emotional stimulation and a lot of SKIN.
